Who is Eligible for UPTET 2026?
UPTET is mandatory for candidates who want to teach in government and aided schools in Uttar Pradesh. Eligibility criteria for primary and upper primary levels are slightly different:
- Primary Level (Class 1 to 5): Candidates should have completed Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with minimum 50% marks and 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) or equivalent.
- Upper Primary Level (Classes 6 to 8): Candidates should possess 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) or Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree with minimum 50% marks along with graduation degree.

How to Apply for UPTET
Candidates must complete One Time Registration (OTR) before applying for UPTET 2026. Follow these steps:
- Visit OTR Portal: Visit https://uptet.upessc.org/otr/info
- Register: Enter personal details and create login credentials.
- Upload documents: Submit your photograph, signature and other required documents.
- Get OTR ID: Confirm and submit the registration to get your OTR ID.
- Apply for UPTET: Login using your OTR ID, fill educational and exam details.
- Pay Fees: Complete the application fee payment online.
- Submit and print: Review your application and take a printout for your records.
