In an interview with India Today, Danish Iqbal shared that it took him 10-12 hours to prepare for the role of Bade Saab. The actor revealed that he first arrives on the sets to start with the character’s make-up. She said she couldn’t eat or move because of her appearance.
Danish Iqbal said: “It was almost like I was observing Ramadan a month earlier.” The actor stated that he took it as a meditation and enjoyed every process.He also revealed that he had to make changes in his speech and voice as he plays a dying man in the film. She said: “It was a challenge, but an opportunity of a lifetime. I’m grateful that people are enjoying it and sending so much love.”
Danish Iqbal discusses the separation of personal views from character
In the same interview, Danish Iqbal talked about separating politics and personal beliefs while playing a character like Dawood Ibrahim. He admitted that he had some concerns.He said: “How do you separate them from each other? This was my question. And I realized, when I’m playing someone, that’s my reality, that’s my truth. And a character can have its own shadow, but as an actor, I can’t judge.” He also shared, “I have to accept his truth to play well, and I think people liked that. He believes in everything he’s doing, and that’s what makes him more threatening.”When asked if having clarity helps in portraying a character and signing a film like ‘Dhurandhar’, Danish said, “Absolutely, main abhineta hoon neta nahi (I am an actor, not a politician).”The actor added that he is expected to play a character and make it more interesting, and it is his job. He said: “Honestly, I don’t believe in politicizing art. We are not the ones who decide the political agenda. Our job is to entertain the audience through the many characters we can play.”
