A fatwa has been issued against actress-performer Nora Fatehi for the controversial song Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke, in which she also appears. Sanjay Dutt. The religious body said the content was objectionable and inconsistent with Islamic teachings.

Amid the growing controversy, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed in the Lok Sabha that the song has been banned following widespread criticism. He was responding to a question raised by Samajwadi Party MP Anand Bhadouria.The track has been under fire since its release this week, with several organizations calling for action against those associated with it. Critics said the song contained “vulgar” lyrics and visuals that objectified women, sparking further controversy online.An FIR and complaints demanding that the track be withdrawn from traffic were also filed, intensifying the controversy just days before it reached Parliament.
Nora Fatehi says she “trusted what the team said”
To address the issue, Nora Fatehi shared a specific video on Instagram, distancing herself from the Hindi version of the song.“When I shot this song three years ago, I said yes because it was part of a big film. It was with a big icon, Sanjay Dutt—who would say no to working with him? He’s an icon. And at least that’s what I thought, it was a remake of ‘Nayak Nahi Khalnayak Hoon Main’, which he said is also a very iconic song.He also said that when the authors explained the meaning of the song to him, he did not find anything “inappropriate” or “vulgar”. However, he clarified that he does not understand Kannada and fully trusted the team’s explanation. Directed by Prem, KD: The Devil is a period action entertainer inspired by true events in 1970s Bangalore.The film stars Dhruva Sarja in the lead alongside Sanjay Dutt, Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Ramesh Aravind, Reeshma Nanaiah and V Ravichandran.The film will be released in theaters on April 30 this year.
