The first trailer for ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ has just dropped, and this time, things look pretty different (and grim) for Peter Parker. The Marvel Cinematic Universe doesn’t mess with the tone. Four years after ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, Peter lives in total isolation. No one remembers who he is, not even those closest to him. He’s older, lonelier and with more emotional weight, trying to figure out what it means to be Spider-Man as the world moves on.
This trailer leans heavily into the dark stuff. Something is happening inside Peter: a strange genetic mutation seems to be changing him, perhaps making his powers more organic, but also threatening to turn him into a monster. Meanwhile, New York is under attack from a terrifying mind-control threat. Someone in the dark is coming out of the shadows, and you can feel the city teetering on the edge.
The biggest surprise, however, has to be the sheer number of villains that come out of the woodwork. Peter is up against his strongest line-up yet: street thugs, rogue mutants and not just villains – anti-heroes like The Punisher, but also Scorpion and a host of new faces no one has seen before. Danger is coming from all angles.
