New Delhi: Sri Lanka Cricket has reportedly punished some players involved in heated scenes after the India A vs Sri Lanka A tri-series match in Dambulla. The game ended in dramatic fashion with Sri Lanka A winning the Super Over after both teams scored 265 runs, but the post-match brawl between India’s Vibhu Suryavanshi and Sri Lanka A’s Vaishan Halambay grabbed attention.According to a report by Cricbuzz, match referee Pradeep Jaya Pragash gave the nod to Halambay, while wicketkeeper Niroshan Dikwila A fine was also imposed for a separate offence, which is believed to be an excessive appeal. It is not yet clear if Suryavanshi, who was seen shaking the hillbillies before parting ways, has faced any punishment. Reports claimed that there was no official hearing and that the bans were based on the umpire’s reports.

Bahotole supports Suryavanshi.

Indian spin bowling coach Sairaj Bahutole. He defended the 15-year-old batsman, saying he was surprised by the incident because of the young man’s calm nature.“It was an unfortunate incident, but we don’t know how it was provoked because I know him and Vaibhav is a very composed kid but I am sure there are experienced coaches who will guide him,” Bahutole said ahead of India’s match against Afghanistan.“Sri Lankan players should also be educated on how to behave,” added Bahotole.

‘he will learn’

Bahotole, who has worked with Suryavanshi at the youth level and with Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, believes the youngster will learn from the incident.“He will learn, he is a young kid with a lot of responsibility to represent India. I am sure he will not repeat it and such incidents can be avoided,” the former Mumbai captain said. The clash followed India’s Super Over defeat, with television footage showing a distraught Surya pushing Vanshi Halmbij before Dickwella stepped in to calm things down.
