Mithun Chakraborty He may have received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his tremendous contribution Indian cinemahowever, his career in the industry has not been easy. The actor faced many rejections in the beginning of his career. So much so that no actor was willing to work with him and so it was Zeenat Aman which broke that jinx associated with his name. Mithun has continued to appreciate Zeenat over the years and is always grateful for changing the course of his career. A while ago, when he appeared on the TV show ‘Sa re Ga Ma Pa’, he recalled his wrestling days and said, “Kitni ladaai ek insaan lad sakta hai. Koi bhi badi heroine mere saath kaam karne ko taiyaar nahin thi. They thought I was a ‘chota star’. ‘Yeh kabhi kya banega heroi?’ Kya kya bolte baare mein are simple. Phir dard hota hai. (How many fights can one person do? There were no great actors willing to work with me. He can never become a hero. Who will become the hero? They said a lot of unpleasant things about me. I don’t want to say It only hurts me).He added, “There was a time when I thought I wouldn’t go from B-grade films to A-grade films. There was a time when actors came out even after the film was announced. There was pressure and other actors were not sure that I would ever make it big. So maybe they warned those heroes, ‘Iske saath kaam karogi toh karogi toh humane sak sa sa.’However, that scenario changed when he agreed to act in ‘Taqdeer’ with Zeenat Mithun. Mithun added that Zeenat once said, “What a handsome man he is! I will do the film with him.” He added, “It was Zeenat ji who broke the jinx. Zeenat ji had the status of the first heroine of that time, so following her footsteps, all the other actors started saying yes to the films I worked in. With the release of Taqdeer, I became an A-category actor. I will forever be grateful to Zeenat ji for helping me achieve that. Zeenat ji, if you listen to me, I offer you my pranaam.”
