Anya Taylor-Joy has officially joined the cast of ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum’.The actor, who has worked on blockbuster film franchises from ‘Dune’ to ‘Mad Max’, will now be heading to Middle-earth for the next live-action installment of the beloved fantasy franchise. the director Andy SerkisAlso set to reprise the iconic role of Gollum, the film will star Anya Ser, a Sindar Elf from the Woodland Kingdom and a trusted operative of King Thranduil, reports The Hollywood Reporter. He is described as a skilled warrior, and is expected to play a key role in the story.Set between the events of ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogies, ‘The Hunt for Gollum’ is the first new live-action feature film since 2014. According to reports, the film follows Aragorn and Gandalf as they embark on a mission to hunt down Gollum in an effort to find crucial information about Bilbo Baggins’ ring, the One Ring that would later threaten all of Middle-earth.Taylor-Joy now joins a cast that includes stars from the returning franchise, including Ian McKellen’s Gandalf, Elijah Wood’s Frodo Baggins and Lee Pace’s Thranduil. The new members of the group are Kate Winslet Marigol, Jamie Dornan Strider and Leo Woodall Halvard.The film is set in the ever-expanding ‘Lord of the Rings’ universe. A second film is reportedly in development titled ‘The Lord of the Rings: Shadow of the Past’, written by Stephen Colbert with Philippa Boyens and Peter McGee. Meanwhile, the hit series ‘The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings of Power’ will also release OTT on November 11, 2026.‘The Hunt for Gollum’ will be released in theaters on December 17, 2027.
