'2000 for a tweet, 4000 for a reel": Anirudh Ravichander reveals paid and manufactured social media and reel culture

Music composer and singer Anirudh Ravichander has ventured into another creative zone with the release of his latest independent single, “Aravindh”. The track is available in Tamil and Telugu and sees the chart-topper move beyond film music to explore pop and hip-hop influences.

The story behind “Aravind”.

At the heart of the track is a fictional alter ego named Aravindh. According to Anirudh, the character is inspired by his younger self before fame entered his life. More importantly, the name has deep emotional significance for the composer. In a recent interaction with Variety India, Anirudh explained the reason for choosing the title. He said, “I chose Aravindh as my alter-ego in honor of my best friend Aravindh who is no longer with me.”

Composer viral questions social media culture

Through lyrics, Anirudh takes a critical look at the growing culture of paid promotions and artificially manufactured online fame.Addressing the issue directly, he said, “Two thousand for a tweet, four thousand for a reel, ten thousand for a dance…stop this trend for the love of God.”

A song meant to last

Anirudh emphasized that he wanted Aravindh to have a lasting impact rather than become another fleeting viral sensation.Sharing his confidence with the track, he said, “I’ll hook you for the first time and another time. It’s time to turn on the loop mode, and the song will outlive the hype.”According to the composer, memorable music should continue to connect with listeners long after the initial excitement wears off. This philosophy seems to be the key driver behind the creation of Aravindh.

The gathering Super Subu and future plans

The song also teams up with lyricist Anirudh Super Subu. The duo previously worked together on the popular song Hukum from the hit film ‘Jailer’.Ahead of the release the authors created curiosity through a special promotional campaign, “Who is Aravindh?” with messages like and “Aravindh will meet you tomorrow.”Meanwhile, Anirudh continues to dominate the music scene with several big projects. His latest songs including “Aaya Sher” from ‘The Paradise’ and DC’s title track are trending on social media handles.
