While chatting with PEOPLE, Cherry and Thorne talked about what the film is all about and what they hope viewers take away. Citing that it’s based on serious events, Cherry shared that it “shows the real anger that victims of rape and sexual assault feel, and rightfully so. They should feel those feelings.”Thorne, on the other hand, said that he wants young men and boys to see the film, and that he wants it to challenge the ideas of the manosphere. He shared, “I felt like we were starting to get somewhere with the consensus, and I feel like we’re coming back, so hopefully this gives people an interesting perspective and young guys to see in this character, and hopefully understand it a little bit more.”He also said that the film explores the gray area of consent and what it really means. During the interview, the co-stars ended up delving into the past as they shared their love for one of the greatest horror classics, ‘The Grudge’. One of the points of connection between the two was their childhood love and exposure to horror classics.Specifically, ‘The Gurdge’, Cherry shared that she was about 9 years old when she saw the film at a neighbour’s house, adding: “We saw it, and my life has never been the same since I saw that, to be honest.” Thorne added: “My family and I went to see the theatres, and we all slept in the living room: my whole family, my mother, my father, four brothers and sisters.”
