Director Chidambaram has finally addressed reports linking him with a potential project starring Mohanlal. Rumors rose after a social media post by Chidambaram’s father, filmmaker Satheesh Pothuval, led many fans to believe that a project starring Mohanlal was in the works. However, Chidambaram has now clarified that no such project is in development.

Speaking in an interview to MediaOne, Chidambaram said he did not know how the rumors started. Although he admits that he would like to work with Mohanlal in the future, he insists that there have been no formal discussions about a film.He said, “I don’t know how the rumors about doing a film with Lalettan started. Someone somewhere had to say something and it spread. I really want to make a movie with Lalettan. If I get a chance, I will definitely do it. But there has been no discussion about such a project”.
The ‘Balan’ director has revealed that he has never spoken to Mohanlal
Although the director of Manjummel Boys has met the veteran actor several times, the director said that they have never had an interview.He stated, “I have spoken to Mammookka but I have not spoken to Lalettan.”When asked about the type of film he would like to do with Mohanlal and Mammootty Chidambaram, he explained that story would always be his main focus.He said, “Lalettan and Mammookka are actors who can adapt to anything. Any character you give them, they can become that character. I think that when casting in a story, we should cast local actors rather than stars. That’s how I would like to collaborate with a star.”The filmmaker emphasized that the two actors are remarkably versatile and can be included in a variety of narratives. According to him, the focus should be on their acting abilities instead of just relying on their star image.
Chidambaram shares his dream projects
While discussing Mohanlal, Chidambaram acknowledged the expectations that come with directing one of Malayalam cinema’s biggest stars.He said: “If I take Lalettan into a film, it has to have a big impact. The mustache must be twirling. If it’s in Laletta, shouldn’t we give that much? His fans are looking forward to it. Lalettan’s films are celebrations.”He added, “If Mammookka comes on board, I would like to do a revenge thriller.”Chidambaram ended by praising the two superstars and describing this phase of their career as one of the best.
