‘Premalu’ star Naslen ‘Mollywood Times’ has found herself in the middle of a controversy related to her certification process. However, audiences who saw it in theaters were said to have heard the same words without these changes.The reported discrepancy has raised concerns that the theatrical version differed from the certified version. Such a situation may lead to a violation of the certification rules, if established through official review.Reports indicate that the CBFC is gathering evidence related to the matter. A notification could be issued to the producer once the review process is complete.
Possible legal consequences according to the law
Under the provisions of the Cinematography Act 1952, infringements relating to certified film versions may result in penalties.Reports suggest that if the authorities conclude that a violation has occurred, the producer may face legal action under statutory penalties. The issue can also lead to financial penalties if violations are established. At the moment, however, no final decision has been made.
Will ‘Mollywood Times’ need re-certification?
One of the major questions is whether ‘Mollywood Times’ will have to undergo another certification process or not.The film was cleared with a UA13+ certificate, thanks to the general audience, with parental guidance recommended for younger viewers. Gafoor, the film has received rave reviews from the audience.ETimes, in its review of the film, wrote: “Abhinav, who co-wrote with Ramu Sunil, gives a refreshing take on life’s struggles. Refreshing because, though it could have easily slipped into grimness, the writers keep the narrative light-hearted and the hero never compromises his dreams or principles.”So the ideas are plausible, but the story starts to feel muddled, especially in the second half. The various hurdles that arise in Vineeth’s dreams are only from the unique mode of operation of Mollywood and it becomes tiresome. The SC/ST privilege bits are shockingly tone-deaf and unnecessary.”Abhinav Sunder Nayak and Ramu Sunil have co-written the film.
