The Filipino-American singer cooked up chicken lumpia and a Calamansi Paloma for Vogue’s “Now Serving” video while talking about her grandmother, life on tour and the sound of her upcoming album. He also looked back on his 2024 visit to the Philippines, where he performed for fans and explored the local food.

According to ABS-CBN, Rodrigo showed her Filipino wisdom in a British Vogue shoot and described why she remains close to him. “They’re really sweet and salty. And like greasy in the best way… It’s like feel-good food,” she said.Rodrigo said the dish reminds him of family gatherings. “My grandmother made them every year for Thanksgiving, so that was probably my first introduction to lumpia. I’m making them like rolls, and he would always make triangle ones, but the triangle ones are kept for me as thanksgiving,” he shared.British Vogue also noted that Rodrigo made the dish for the “Now Serving” series. In the video, she introduced the segment by saying, “Hey Vogue, I’m Olivia Rodrigo and today I’m going to make a lumpia and Paloma. So excited.”He also joked about the possibility of drinking. “Actually, my drink is a vodka cranberry, but I thought it was a little too ugly for Vogue, so the Paloma is a little tall and that’s why I love it,” said Rodrigo.

Then he said, “I’m half Filipino. My father’s side of the family is Filipino. It’s always been on my bucket list, I’ve always wanted to come here for as long as I can remember and it’s going to be so much fun and I’m so happy to be here.”During this visit, Rodrigo visited Intramuros with his father, ate at Sarsa and visited the Manila headquarters of the Jhpiego Foundation. The net proceeds from the Philippine concert were donated to the foundation.
