NEW DELHI: Young batting sensation Vibhu Suryavanshi has already shown enough promise to succeed at the highest level, according to the veteran umpire and referee. Virender SharmaWho believes the youngster’s performance in the IPL is a strong indication of what lies ahead.Sharma, who has umpired in international and domestic cricket across all formats including Tests, ODIs, T20s and first-class matches, called Suryavanshi an “amazing talent” and praised the youngster’s natural ability, strength and hand-eye coordination. “Amazing talent. Whatever I’ve seen of him during the last few IPLs, he’s amazing. I mean he’s got great arm strength and everything. Good eyes, good hand-eye coordination, good for India. I’m looking forward to seeing him, I mean two, three more years then I can say anything about his development,” Sharma said.Suryavanshi has emerged as one of the most exciting young cricketers in the country, garnering widespread attention for his fearless batting and ability to take on seasoned bowlers.The veteran believes that consistent performance in the IPL, where players face some of the best bowlers in the world and work under immense pressure, is one of the strongest indicators of future success at the international level.Asked if the youngster could replicate his IPL success on the international stage, Sharma had no doubts.“Absolutely. If you see IPL is the most challenging tournament in the world. So if he is performing in IPL, it means he has the ability, the ability to make runs in front of, you know, many foreign players, many foreign bowlers. So if he succeeds in IPL, then for sure he will do something amazing in the international match for India.”Suryavanshi earned his first call-up after a record-breaking IPL 2026 season. He finished IPL 2026 as the highest run-scorer with 776 runs, including one century and five half-centuries, at an impressive strike rate of 237.30.
