After India’s triumphant T20 World Cup 2026 campaign, all-rounder Shiv Dubey was in no mood to wait to be reunited with his family. The Mumbai-based cricketer revealed that he felt a strong urge to see his father and children, prompting him to skip a scheduled flight and take an early morning train from Ahmedabad to Mumbai.Addressing an event, Dubey said, “I was very worried about going home to meet my baby and my papa… So I came home to Sabha. Wait, hello not happening (I was anxious to meet my baby… and why couldn’t I wait for my father early in the morning).” He traveled with his wife and a friend in the third AC compartment.
Mindful of his celebrity status, Dube has made careful arrangements to keep a low profile. He boarded the train at 5:10 a.m. to avoid the crowds and stayed inside his car until the last minute. On board, he mostly stayed in the upper berth, dressed in a hat, face mask, and full-sleeved T-shirt, resting quietly throughout the trip.Despite his caution, Dubey was almost recognized when a ticket checker saw his berth and asked, “Shivam Dubey? Who is he, the cricketer?” Thinking quickly, his wife reassured the crew, “No, no, where would he come from?” And distracted. After India won the World Cup, Dubey’s stature has increased. In eight innings, he scored 235 runs at a strike rate of 169.06, playing key cameos that gave the team sustained momentum. Already a contributor to India’s 2024 campaigns, Dubey emerged as the underdog hero of the 2026 title run, cementing his reputation as a reliable and impactful all-rounder.
