The trailer of ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ was released at a grand event in Mumbai on Thursday. The occasion turned emotional as Akshay Kumar addressed the topic of retirement and paid tribute to the late Neeraj Vora and Pankaj Dheer.
Akshay Kumar talks about retirement
At the trailer launch, Akshay addressed the topic of retirement, admitting that the thought crosses his mind from time to time. The actor stated: “Sometimes I feel like retiring, when I wake up at 4 in the morning, this thought comes to me. But in five seconds, I remember that I have to be on a shoot, where 300 people are waiting for me. Then the next day I tell myself that I will think about retirement; it’s been 36 years of doing this. If I retire, what will happen. I will be an electrician, a dog walker, a gardener, etc. So I think it’s better if I go to work and not retire. I try to spend time with my family. After a day, they asked me when I’m going back to work. The word retirement seems very wrong to me. A person must retreat for five seconds before dying. If you want a long life, keep working.”
Akshay Kumar rubbishes ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ salary rumors and pays tribute to late Neeraj Vora
Akshay also addressed rumors surrounding his fee for ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ at the event, dismissing reports that he was charged just 1.7 crores for the film. He also spoke about the personal significance of the project as its story was written by the late Neeraj Vora. He said, “Whoever told you that I have charged 1.7 crores for this film, I have not even charged that much. This film has been important to me because its story is written by Neeraj Vohra. I have always said in my interviews that I have learned a lot in comedy from Priyadarshan, Rajkumar Santoshi and Neeraj Vohra. Neeraj taught me a lot. I have known Firoz Nadiadwala for 36 years. I would go to him in my times of struggle.’
