SSB Recruitment 2026: Sashastra Seema Bal has released a short notification announcing 1060 Constable and Head Constable Vacancies. This notification was published in the Employment Gazette, outlining recruitment in various trades under the Central Armed Police Forces.According to the announcement, the detailed notification will be released on the official website ssb.gov.in. Distribution of vacancies in trades and postsOut of the total vacancies, 827 are for the posts of Constable and 233 are for the posts of Head Constable. Constable vacancies are in various trades like driver, veterinarian, gardener, washerman, tailor, barber, carpenter, and many more. Out of these constable posts, 553 are driver posts, and candidates applying for driver posts must be male. Constable posts are distributed among UR, EWS, OBC, SC, and ST. Out of the total constable posts, 383 are UR, 64 EWS, 191 OBC, 128 SC, and 61 ST. Head constables are recruited in various trades such as communication, electrician, steward, and veterinary. Out of these posts, 197 are communication posts and 29 are electrician posts. Eligibility Criteria and Application ProcessCandidates applying for Head Constable posts must have 10+2 qualification, while Constable applicants must have passed 10th standard. Age limits vary by role, usually between 18 and 27 years depending on the trade.Specific technical qualifications are required for specific positions. For example, communication roles require a scientific background with relevant diplomas, while electrician posts require ITI certification. Driver applicants must hold a valid Heavy Motor Vehicle License.The application fee is fixed at Rs. 100 for General, OBC and EWS candidates. SC, ST, Ex-servicemen and women candidates are exempted from fee payment. Payment can be made through online modes including debit card, credit card, net banking and UPI.Selection stages and recruitment processThere are various stages in the selection process, starting with Physical Efficiency Test and Physical Standard Test. Then, the candidates undergo a written test, and for some posts, typing or skill tests are also conducted.Document verification and detailed medical examination are the final stages of the recruitment process. Typing speed is also required for some posts, which should be 35 WPM in English or 30 WPM in Hindi.
