'Hercule': Edward Bluemel has landed the iconic role of Hercule Poirot in the new Agatha Christie drama series

Edward Bluemel, best known for his role in ‘My Lady Jane’, has played detective Hercule Poirot in the new drama series ‘Hercule’. The six-part show will follow the beloved Belgian detective as he solves his first cases in London, long before he becomes the world’s most legendary detective. Filming will begin this summer in Liverpool, England.According to Variety, the series has been described as “an intimate study of Hercules the man and an epic portrait of Britain between the wars”, taking a closer look at three of Agatha Christi’s most famous stories, depicting Hercules’ early friendships and rivalries, including his burgeoning relationship with Captain Arthur Hastings, his first encounters with James Nemesland.

What Edward Bluemel had to say about taking the role

Bluemel expressed his excitement to join such an iconic part. “I feel very lucky to be trusted with such an iconic character that has been played by so many great actors,” she said. “I can’t wait to continue Hercules’ legacy.”Executive producer James Prichard, representing Agatha Christie Limited, also welcomed the casting. “My father had the privilege of working with David Suchet for nearly 25 years, and now I’m lucky enough to be able to share my grandmother’s great stories with a new generation of audiences,” she said. “Edward Bluemel is a very talented performer and will make a great addition to the long line of actors who have played this iconic character. I can’t wait to see Edward on screen as Hercule Poirot.”

Who is behind ‘Hercule’?

The series is written by Benji Walters, known for ‘Code of Silence’ and ‘The Leopard’. Jonny Campbell, whose previous credits include ‘Dracula’ and ‘Am I Being Unreasonable?’ , will direct the first two episodes, and Charlie Palmer serves as producer of the series.‘Hercule’ will premiere on BritBox in North America and BBC One in the UK.
