Filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan has never hidden his admiration for the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson. But when he finally came face to face with his idol, even the usually outspoken filmmaker was at a loss for words.In her latest YouTube vlog, Farah relived the unforgettable moment and shared details of her brief interaction with the global music icon, how she abandoned everything else just to meet him.
“To hell with the show, here comes Michael Jackson”
Farah visits dancer and actress Shruti Sinha to celebrate the success of her Campus Beats series. Actor Shantanu Maheshwari was also a part of the vlog. During the interview, Shruti talked about training in ballet for eight years in Delhi, prompting Farah to talk about her lifelong admiration for Michael Jackson.When Shantanu revealed that she is among the few Indians who have met the legendary singer Farah, the filmmaker immediately started the story.Recalling the incident, Farah said, “Shah Rukh was performing, and I went to choreograph for Shah Rukh, Aishwarya and everyone. The sponsor of the event told me that Michael Jackson may come as the chief guest.”He continued, “Suddenly, the main wing mein khadi hoon aur Shah Rukh ka performance aaraha hai and the sponsor said Michael Jackson aaraha hai… I was going, and the sponsor said but madam, your performance? I said Bhaad mein jaaye. Shah Rukh rahega ghar jaayenge toh.”
‘It’s still giving me goosebumps’
Farah explained that she was taken to Michael Jackson’s room moments before meeting him and remembers the atmosphere vividly.“They took me to his room, and it was completely dark, he didn’t like the bright lights. He was sitting in the shadows, and he’s still giving me goosebumps telling me this,” he recalled.Describing their interaction, Farah added: “Speaking so softly, he asked me, ‘What’s your name?’ and I said Farah Khan. “He said, ‘Such a powerful name,’ and then I clicked a picture of him standing still, and then I took off the fenders.”The cherished photo remains one of Farah’s most treasured memories of meeting her idol.
Farah defended the Michael Jackson biopic earlier this year
Earlier this year, when the Michael Jackson biopic drew mixed reactions from critics, Farah publicly came out in support of the film. Sharing a photo with the late pop star on social media, she wrote: “Be aware… critics are stupid in every country! Go see Michael! and someone please give Jaafar Jackson an Oscar next year.”
What’s next for Farah Khan?
While Farah has been actively focusing on her YouTube channel and recently celebrating receiving her Golden Play Button, she has also been preparing for her next directorial project.The filmmaker recently announced that he plans to start working on his next film by the end of the year. According to Farah, he hopes to collaborate again Shah Rukh Khan and the superstar is willing to wait until the dates are allotted for the project.
