In an interview with Mid-day, Mahir revealed the real reasons for rejecting “Takht”. “Takht was not a normal film. It was Mr. Yash Johar’s last dream project and it had a historical connection with it. When you write a script based on history, you cannot change the facts. Once COVID happened, it was very difficult to gather so many actors and align their dates,” he said. Mahir also revealed that the budget had gone over Rs 200 crore, making it difficult for the makers to organize the money. He further added, “Even if you wanted to plan two years later, it would have been impossible to assemble the entire cast. And if you make Takht today, you would have to rewrite the script from scratch because the audience has changed.”
