New Delhi: Christian Eriksen was taken to hospital for further checks after collapsing during Denmark’s friendly against Ukraine on Sunday, ruling him out of the 2021 European Championships due to known heart problems. The 34-year-old midfielder was seen clutching his chest in the 65th minute before collapsing to the ground. Medical staff rushed to the field as players from both teams watched anxiously.The Danish Football Federation soon confirmed that Eriksen was “conscious and, under the circumstances, doing well.” Team doctor Morten Bossen later provided a more detailed update, saying: “Christian is doing well and walked off the field on his own. As I see it, the pacemaker responded as it should.”“He was unconscious for a while, but regained consciousness very quickly, and we were soon in contact with him.”
