Anu Aggarwal explains why she left the film industry

I applaud today’s audience for speaking up for more dignity in the portrayal of women. But the responsibility does not lie only with the public. Nor does it stop only with filmmakers. Even the actors. More than 30 years ago, after Aashiqui, before signing a film I thought it would be good to hear the story”.She further added, “Objectification of women was the norm. I chose to play against that norm. The films I did are a testament to that choice. In many ways, that’s one of the reasons I eventually left films. Today, I encourage young actors and actresses to listen to the story. But they will also change when we agents refuse to participate in what we no longer believe in.’
