India 368/3 in 85.0 overs IND vs AFG Live Score, Day 2 of One-off Test: Shubman Gul, Rishabh Pant look to extend India’s dominance

Afghanistan’s biggest weakness turned out to be their spin resources. With their established stars unavailable due to T20 league commitments around the world, the onus fell on Nangyalia Kharote and off-spinner Abdul Malik.

However, the pair lacked the penetration needed to challenge a batting line-up of India’s calibre.

Khorote gave away 95 runs in 20 overs without reward, while Malik bowled six overs and that too without a wicket. Muhammad Saleem emerged as the most successful bowler with 2 wickets for 67 runs, while fast bowler Zia-ur-Rehman impressed despite taking only one wicket.

Overall, Afghanistan’s attack lacked the quality to maintain pressure and India took full advantage. Without launching an all-out attack, the hosts still scored runs at a brisk pace, hitting 42 fours and four sixes.

With support available for spin, India are expected to make an early declaration on day two and unleash their three-pronged slower bowling attack.
