He should be there for three days and some sessions including batting under lights at a ground. Then he will join the Indian team in Dharamsala on June 11, two days before the first ODI against Afghanistan on June 13,” said a source.The injury forced him to miss several IPL matches, and he played as an ‘impact player’ for Mumbai Indians.

Meanwhile, it has been learned that star batsman Virat Kohli, who also picked up a hamstring injury during IPL 2026, is likely to be out of the team for at least the next six weeks. This will not only rule him out of Afghanistan’s ODIs, but also jeopardize his participation in the three-match ODI series in England starting July 14 in Birmingham.“He has a hamstring tear. The injury will not require surgery. He will take about six weeks to recover, which will include rehabilitation at BCCI’s Center of Excellence in Bengaluru. He consulted renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr Dinsha Pardiwala (at Kokila Ben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai) over telephone, who reviewed his MRI scans,” a source keeping track of the progress told TOI.
