According to the Firstpost report, a legal notice has been sent to the makers of “Dhurandhar: The Revenge”, lead Ranveer Singh and other important authorities. This comes after the poster of a song titled ‘Pralay’ showed Singh’s character smoking. Complainants have questioned its portrayal of religious insensitivity and misrepresentation of Sikh beliefs.For the uninitiated, the consumption of tobacco is strictly prohibited for Sikhs. And so its representation in the film has become controversial. According to the report, a member of the Sikh community sent a legal notice to the makers, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.The complainants requested that the scenes showing the character smoking be removed and that the previously released promotional material be edited to depict the same. Immediate actions have also been taken to apologize to those in charge and before dismissal.
Backlash against X over the AI/fan made poster
Earlier, Paramjit Singh Sarna, President of Shiromani Akali Dal, Delhi State, shared a message on his X: “The poster of the song Pralay from the movie Dhurandhar 2 depicts a turbanted Sikh character holding a cigarette. This portrayal is highly offensive and a serious violation of Sikh religious principles. Kurehit, one of the most serious violations of the Sikh code of conduct.“The post further said, “The display of a Sikh wearing a Dastaar while holding a cigarette is therefore a misrepresentation of Sikh identity and hurts the sentiments of Sikhs worldwide.”Elaborating further, he added, “The Sikh turban is a sacred article of faith. Using it in this context is completely irrelevant to the film’s narrative and seems to trivialize and degrade the Sikh faith to a global audience. Such images directly attack Sikh sentiments and project a distorted understanding of the Sikh faith. We request the relevant authorities to take immediate notice of this matter, to investigate the portrait and to remove or correct this offensive poster.“

After the post calling out the makers of “Dhurandhar 2”, netizens came out in support of the film, stating that the poster is fan-made. Also, netizens reported that there was no song named ‘Pralay’ in ‘Dhurandhar’ or ‘Dhurandhar 2’. One person wrote, “There is no song called Pralay in Dhurandhar2 and the picture you posted here is not official, it’s a female poster.” Another person added, “Dear sir, check the poster, it’s fanmade or ai created poster. There is no song called pralay in Dhurandhar 2. The music rights of the movie are with t series and sa re ga ma music is mentioned in that poster. It’s not an official poster. Before you research.“
