Suriya and Trisha Krishnan starrer ‘Karuppu’ continued its theatrical run with another dip in collections.The film had a strong initial phase in the initial weeks. However, recent trends suggest that collections are gradually slowing down at the box office.
The 21st day’s earnings have seen a sharp decline
According to Sacnilk, ‘Karuppu’ collected 90 lakhs on 21st day. The final figure was a 41.9 percent drop from the 20th day’s earnings of 1.55 Cr.The film earned the amount in 1,860 shows. After the latest addition, the gross collections in India reached 218.89 Cr. The total net collection in India has now touched 189.35 Cr.The Tamil version continued to lead the film’s earnings. On day 21, the Tamil version collected 85 lakhs with 16.0 percent occupancy in 1,665 shows.The Telugu version added Rs 5 lakh and registered 19.0 percent occupancy from 195 shows. The gross state report also showed that Tamil Nadu maintained the strongest contribution. Tamil Nadu earned 80 lakhs in 21 days.Andhra Pradesh and Telangana regions contributed 10 lakhs. Karnataka added Rs 5 lakh while Kerala collected Rs 6 lakh. Other regions contributed Rs 1 lakh.
The number of occupations remains modest
The Tamil 2D release registered an overall occupancy of 14.63 percent on the 21st day. Morning occupancy started at 9.38 percent and increased slightly in later shows.Evening occupancy was 14.31 percent. Evening shows had 12.31 percent occupancy. Night occupancy rose to 17.31 percent.The Telugu version registered an overall occupancy of 10.20 percent. The morning occupancy was 6.60%. Evening occupancy reached 9.40 percent. Evening and night shows stood at 9.20 percent and 9.40 percent respectively.Despite the slowdown, the film’s third week collection has now reached 21.20 Cr.
The worldwide total is approaching the 300 Cr mark
“Karuppu” also continued to add to its overseas total. The film collected Rs 25 lakh overseas in 21 days.The total overseas gross collections have reached 79.50 Cr.
