Indian wicketkeeper-batsman KS Bharath has announced his retirement from international cricket, bringing the curtain down on a career that saw him play seven Tests for the country. The 32-year-old shared an emotional message on social media, reflecting on the sacrifices, support and determination that helped him achieve his dream of representing India.Although India Earned a reputation as a safe pair of hands behind the stumps and was part of India’s squad for the 2023 World Test Championship final, he struggled to secure a long-term place in the Test team. His last appearance was against England in Visakhapatnam in February 2024. In seven Tests, he scored 221 runs and finished with 18 catches and one stumping. Announcing his decision, Bharath wrote, “With a sense of pride and gratitude, I announce my retirement from international cricket. Playing for my country has been the greatest honor of my life. My journey has demanded a lot of resilience and strength but every moment is an honor to represent India in Tests.”In his farewell note, Bharat paid tribute to his family, crediting them for supporting his cricketing ambitions since childhood.“In a family of four, we all lived the same dream for two decades, a big heart for my sister, mom and dad for creating the environment and support system they have been. I am the product of their love, discipline and hard work,” he wrote.Bharat also thanked. BCCIAndhra Cricket Association, Visakhapatnam District Cricket Association, teammates and groundsmen for helping shape his career.“Thank you to the BCCI and all the coaches and managers I have met in my career who have unconditionally supported me by creating a perfect environment to play and perform at the highest level,” he added.The wicketkeeper gave special praise. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma And Rahul Dravidall of whom played a key role in his journey.He concluded by saying, “Big thanks to my IPL debut captain Virat Kohli who gave me the opportunity to showcase my skills and gain recognition. Big thanks to my India captain Rohit Sharma under whom I made my Test debut is priceless and beyond words. To my India coach Rahul Dravid sir, his guidance to the Indian team from India A is unbelievable.”
