Paresh Ganatra known for films like ‘Aankhen’, ‘Welcome’, ‘No Entry’ besides TV shows like ‘Baa Bahu Baby’ has been in the industry for 28 years. But the actor admits that he is typecast in comedy roles. He stars in his latest series ‘Made in India: A Titan Story’ Naseeruddin Shah, Jim Sarbh see it in a different light. In a recent interview with ETimes, Ganatra spoke about the show and reflected on his career as he began his career. He revealed that it’s very easy for people to put actors in a box, but it takes people who are willing to take risks and have faith in an actor to land a part. The actor said, “The most exciting thing for me was that it was a true story and my character was not being made into a comedy. An actor always feels that working in comfort zone is not good. We believe that we are versatile and we want to show people that. The biggest reason for me to do this show is that my character is not doing comedy.” The show is about how JRD created the Tata Titan and sees Naseeruddin Shah playing his role. “There are many great actors like Jim Sarbh and Naseer bhai in the show and every actor always wants to learn. Though unfortunately I didn’t have a scene with Naseer bhai.”Talking about his preparation, Ganatra says: “Usually I believe in spontaneity. Also, to a large extent, comedy happens with improvisations and that’s what I’ve taken in most of my films. Even this time, I’ve focused on the seriousness of the character and not going out. I try not to get technical. I feel like in the end, it always results in a collaborative scene.” The actor also says that more people are needed in the industry to believe in actors for different roles. “Someone has to put faith in an actor. Someone should say, ‘let’s take a chance on Paresh and see if it pans out’.” ‘Made in India: A Titan Story’ has started streaming from June 3.
