Navnindra had a deep connection with art and theater throughout his career. He made his debut on stage at the age of 3. From Punjab, he spent years in theater before transitioning to film and television. His simplicity and polished performance won him his demanding roles every time. Behl was a professor in the Department of Drama at Punjab University, Patiala, where he mentored a generation of future artists. Apart from being an actor, he was also a prolific writer and director, directing numerous documentaries, plays and telefilms for Doordarshan.
