Chennai Super Kings (CSK) spent Rs 14.2 crore to sign uncapped players Karthik Sharma and Prashant Vir in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction 2026. After joining the CSK squad, Prashant received a piece of advice from MS Dhoni that was not about cricket.Prashant said Dhoni’s first advice was about money management rather than on-field strategy. “Right now, we haven’t talked much about cricket. He told me to save my money and not spend it unnecessarily,” he was quoted as saying by Sportsstar magazine.
The 20-year-old all-rounder also spoke about his batting role. “I can bat in any condition. Unless I have to open, I will do it elsewhere,” Prashant told Sportsstar.

Prashant said the first few days with the team have been about understanding the environment and learning from others in the squad. “The atmosphere is great, and everyone is very helpful. It’s nice to mix and play with them. It’s a great feeling for me, my family and my village (Sahjipur, UP). I’m really happy to be here.”He said that the experience of training with an IPL team is different from what he had. “This is my first IPL, so I have never done such practice sessions before,” he said. The atmosphere and intensity here is different, so it takes some getting used to.The left-arm spin all-rounder also spoke about comparisons with Ravindra Jadeja. He said that he is only focusing on his performance. “First, I have to do what I know — what I have practiced and what brought me here. If I think I have to replace him, it will be a lot of pressure because it is not easy to do what he has done for the franchise or the Indian team. Right now, I am just focusing on my game,” he said.Wicket-keeper batsman Karthik Sharma (19) said his main focus is to get Dhoni to understand his finishing ability and strategy. “I want to learn how to close games and game plan well,” he said, as quoted by Sportsstar.
