Rebecca Ferguson says her role in ‘Dune: Part Three’ is much smaller than in the first two films, revealing that Denis Villeneuve only brought her in for one scene. Speaking about the next chapter in the sci-fi saga, the actress said she felt overwhelmed and left out as the story progressed with less room for Lady Jessica. His comments come as interest builds around the film, which hits theaters on December 18 and is the final chapter in Villeneuve’s trilogy.
Role of Rebecca Ferguson in ‘Dune: Part Three’
Speaking on Josh Horowitz’s ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast, Ferguson shared new details about his return to the franchise while promoting ‘Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man’. As Deadline also noted in its report on the film’s growing expansion, ‘Dune: Part Three’ is based on Frank Herbert’s 1969 novel ‘Dune Messiah’ and has already started to build excitement with new character posters and a trailer.
Ferguson made it clear that his part in the new film is short. “I put my finger in. I have no comment,” he said. “The script is great, I’ve read it. I think it’s going to be fantastic. But my journey has been numbers 1 and 2. I don’t think so either [my character] It should have been at 3. And then Denise said, ‘I have to have a scene,’ and I get a scene.”
Lady Jessica in ‘Dune: Part Three’
The actress, who played Lady Jessica in 2021’s “Dune” and 2024’s “Dune: Part Two,” said returning to the set was mixed feelings. “And that was a strange feeling, to walk onto a set that you know so well and know you’re not a part of it. There’s a lot of FOMO. And to accept, ‘This is it.’ You just have to serve it [the story]”.Despite the smaller role, Ferguson spoke warmly of working with Villeneuve again. Praising the filmmaker, he said: “He’s smart, creative, a master, and he works with people who make him better, and they make him better. It’s a symbiosis. And they are few.”‘Dune: Part Three’ stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Isaach de Bankolé, Robert Pattinson, Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jason Momoa and Javier Bardem. With the cast back and the trailer on its way, Ferguson’s honest update in the film’s final stretch has only added to the anticipation.
