Vibhu Suryavanshi’s record-breaking IPL 2026 campaign reached another incredible milestone during Qualifier 2 against Gujarat Titans. Rajasthan Royals Young became the fastest player to complete 1000 runs in IPL. The young sensation broke Andre Russell’s long-standing record, previously held by the West Indies star in 545 balls. Suryavanshi now sits at the top after another explosive innings that once again left the bowlers helpless in a high-pressure knockout clash. Fewest balls to 1000 runs in IPL440 – Vaibhav Suryavanshi545 – Andre Russell560 – Tim David575 – Travis Head575 – Full Salt The milestone came during a dramatic innings where Rajasthan Royals found themselves in immediate trouble after electing to bat first. RR lost Yashaswi Jaiswal in the opening over and Dhruv Jural in the second as Mohammad Siraj and Kagiso Rabada struck the opening blow. With Rajasthan under huge pressure, the franchise promoted Jadeja to No.4 in a move that completely changed the momentum of the innings. Jadeja and Suryavanshi led the innings brilliantly as RR reached 82/2 in just eight overs. This partnership became even more important when Jadeja struggled with injury and was forced to retire. Rajasthan then suffered another disaster as Ryan Parag and Dasan Shanaka departed one after the other, with Suryavanshi once again leading the innings almost single-handedly. Jadeja eventually returned to the crease and teamed up with Suryavanshi to put together a crucial partnership of 127 runs in just 65 balls to revive Rajasthan’s innings. In the midst of the rescue act, Suryavanshi continued to rewrite history. During the innings, he also became:
- First uncapped player to score 700 runs in an IPL season
- First player in T20 history to score 500 powerplay runs in a single tournament
Despite the pressure of a knockout clash, Suryavanshi once again played the innings at a brilliant pace. Interestingly, this was actually the slowest fifty of his IPL career, reaching the milestone in 28 balls. His previous slowest IPL fifty was made in 27 balls against Chennai Super Kings in Delhi last year. The stat absolutely captures the ridiculous level at which he has batted this season. It was his eighth 50-plus score in the IPL, and on five of the previous seven occasions, he reached the milestone in 17 balls or less. Just when another century seemed inevitable, Suryavanshi once again fell heartbreakingly short in the 90s. Trying to upper cut off Kagiso Rabada, the youngster failed to time it right and was caught by third man Prasad Krishna for a sensational 96 off 47 balls with eight fours and seven sixes. Even without a hundred, Suryavanshi had already produced another historic night, adding more jaw-dropping records to what is fast becoming one of the greatest IPL seasons ever seen by a batsman, let alone an unheralded youngster.
