Filmmaker-choreographer Farah Khan recently relived her childhood memories and spoke candidly about her family’s financial struggles in a fun cooking vlog featuring the actress. Tanishaa Mukerji and his cook Dilip. The two went to the kitchen to prepare sabudana khichdi before settling on the terrace for a chat about growing up in film families and experiencing the ups and downs of the industry.While discussing the difficult phases of her childhood, Farah recalled how her family’s financial situation changed overnight after one of her father’s films failed at the box office. “I always say to Ayan Mukerji because of his father, hum gareeb hue the (we became poor). Because my father made the first big color film with Deb Mukherjee in the lead role, and it bombed at the box office on Friday, and on Monday, we became poor,” he said.Farah explained how filmmaking was much more risky at the time, as producers and filmmakers often invested their own money in projects, unlike the studio-backed system seen today. The film he referred to was ‘Aisa Bhi Hota Hai’, a 1971 film directed by Kamran Khan and starring Deb Mukherjee, Nandita Bose, Tun Tun and Jalal Agha.Tanishaa related to Farah’s experience and that her family also saw financial instability according to her father. The conversation also took an interesting turn when Tanishaa revealed that she had started writing. He shared that he has already completed the script for the web series as well as the script for the movie, although he hasn’t told anyone about the project yet because he feels he still has a lot of stories to tell.Farah launched her cooking vlog series in 2024, and it quickly became a hit with viewers because of the fun chemistry she shares with chef Dilip. Episodes typically feature celebrity home visits, candid chats, cooking shows, and house tours. Over time, Dilip himself became an internet favorite for his comic timing and natural screen presence.Farah had earlier revealed that the popularity of the vlog series had significantly improved Dilip’s life as he cleared his debts and started building a house in his hometown.On the professional front, Farah recently confirmed that he is gearing up to direct his next film by the end of this year. Although he has not yet revealed details about the project, he has revealed that Shah Rukh Khan will be the title of the film. The duo has previously delivered several successful films together including Main Hoon Na, Om Shanti Om and Happy New Year.
