Teyana Taylor may not have won a Grammy this time, but she’s definitely winning at life. The Golden Globe winner is now giving an honest and loving look at how she strikes that balance as a mother.
Teyana Taylor feels that being a mother is like being a mother Hannah Montana
In an interview with PEOPLE at the TIME Women of the Year Gala, Taylor talked to 5-year-old Rue Rose Shumpert and 10-year-old Iman “Junie” Tayla Shumpert Jr. She talked about the upbringing she shares with her ex-husband. “I think when I’m at home and we’re together because I’m in mom mode it’s almost like Hannah Montana,” Taylor said, referring to the Disney series of the same name starring Miley Cyrus.
Taylor Teyana feels like she’s living two different lives
The ‘One Battle After Another’ actress clearly separates her life as a mother and her life as a celebrity, Hannah Montana lived a secret double life as former student Miley Stewart by day and pop superstar by night. “They understand,” Taylor said of her children. “I live two different lives where it’s like, ‘OK, here’s the rug, mom. But then here’s mom, when she’s home, we’re going to the trampoline park, we’re cooking, playing, drawing.’ So they understand balance.”
Teyana Taylor’s life with her girls
Taylor believes her girls’ glamorous and solid acceptance of the celebrity world is more rewarding than her own experience at awards season. He also mentioned his daughter Junie, calling her a “leader” and a “little celebrity.” “It doesn’t come in saying, ‘My mom needs this’ or ‘I’m this.’ I love that balance,” Taylor said. “However, Junie and Rue are seen posing and serving on a red carpet. So I think it’s amazing to see how they navigate the balance. It is truly inspiring. As a parent, it makes me proud,” she added. The girls have already shown that they thrive in the spotlight. Along with her mom, 5-year-old Rue Rose stole the show at the 32nd Annual Actress Awards. She posed for photos and even fixed the train on Taylor’s dress.
