'Kattalan' on review bombing claims: Antony Varghese reacts to fake posts; Disallows links to fan page

Actor Antony Varghese has reacted after a fake social media page spread misleading claims related to his latest release ‘Kattalan’. The controversy arose shortly after the film hit theaters on the last day.The page, which operated under the name Antony Varghese Fans Club, alleged that there was a deliberate attempt to damage the film through organized negative reviews online.

The page also alleged that the review attacks were linked to Mohanlal’s ‘Drishyam 3’ PR team.Antony Varghese addressed the issue through his Instagram Stories and distanced himself from the page.

Antony Varghes clears up claims of fake fan pages

In his statement, Antony Varghese clarified that the page has no relationship with him or his official fan groups.“My point has been that a fake Facebook page is being posted as my ‘fan page’ circulating posts and spreading false information. Please note that this page is completely unauthorized and has no affiliation with me or my real fan community. They are deliberately spreading fake news to create unnecessary allegations and drama,” the actor wrote.The actor also asked followers not to encourage the page by sharing or sharing its content.“Don’t believe, share or engage with anything posted there. Thanks to everyone who brought this to my attention! Stay safe,” Antony added.

Raj Tirandasu talks about the challenging shoot

On the other hand, actor Raj Tirandasu, who plays the role of Maari in ‘Kattalan’, recently spoke about his experience of shooting with real elephants while making the film.Raj, who earlier appeared in Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ described the elephant action scenes as one of the toughest parts of his acting career.“It was honestly scary at times because we were working with real elephants that had already been part of other films in other films. One small mistake and things could have gone completely wrong,” he told the ETimes.The actor also explained that the unpredictability of the animals added realism to the action sequences.“Somewhere, that unpredictability gave the action a completely different energy. You can’t fake those reactions or emotions on screen,” Raj added.

Directed by debutant filmmaker Paul George, ‘Kattalan’ is an action thriller set against the backdrop of violent ivory smuggling operations and gang rivalries.Antony Varghese plays a major role in the film, which mixes action elements with a dark rural setting. Despite the controversy, Kattalan has managed to register a strong opening at the box office.According to Sacnilk, ‘Kattalan’ collected Rs 3.40 crore on Day 1 from 3,358 shows nationwide. The film’s gross collection in India is currently 3.91 crores, while its total nett in India stands at 3.40 crores post release.
