Frogmore Cottage, Queen Elizabeth II’s gift to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, is said to be undergoing a lot of construction. Recent reports have mentioned that there are plans to develop the property and return it to its original state as two semi-attached properties. However, the funding behind the project is a concern. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Frogmore Cottage will undergo expensive construction
According to a report recently shared by The Sun, Frogmore Cottage will return to its original design; however, the project is still in development, and costs are becoming an issue. The construction that took place in the house had a cost of 2.4 million euros; however, to undo this, a lot of money will be invested in the project.At the moment, no construction work has started, and planning is being done to move forward with the project, which is still under development. Within 12 months of gifting Prince Harry and Markle, the property was transformed into what it is today. It was also reported that much of the interior design was financed by the couple themselves.
What a job was done at Frogmore Cottage
Originally, when the Queen gifted the property to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, it consisted of two linked properties. However, it was revealed that he had undergone a complete transformation of 2.4 million euros, in addition to which a lot of equipment was added, and two houses were transformed into a single house. The house’s electrical wiring was completely renewed from scratch, and new gas and water supply systems were also installed in the house. Other amenities that were installed during construction included a yoga studio, new ceiling beams and floor bridges, among others.

The report also mentioned that when Windsor was offered to move into the property during discussions about leaving the Royal Lodge, she flatly refused. The report said: “Perhaps if they remove any trace of Harry and Meghan, then someone in the royal household would love it. It would draw a line under the controversial history of Frogmore Cottage and bring Meghan and Harry back to a pre-Meghan era.”The property has been vacant since 2023, after King Charles kicked out Prince Harry and published his memoir, ‘Spare’. The house is administered by Sovereign Grant under the Frogmore House Act 1841.
