Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Vijay met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on Wednesday. The interaction had its first public meeting in over ten years.According to India Today, the meeting was held at Seva Teerth in the national capital and reportedly lasted for around 25 minutes. Vijay’s visit came weeks after he took over as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu.
Vijay raises the major issues of Tamil Nadu
During the meeting, Vijay presented a memorandum to the Prime Minister highlighting various important issues related to Tamil Nadu.According to reports, the memorandum contained concerns related to the Vande Mataram controversy, the Mekedatu project issue, defense related projects and the arrest of fishermen in Tamil Nadu by the Sri Lanka Navy.One of the main issues raised by Vijay was the ongoing debate over the singing of Vande Mataram at official government functions. According to reports, Vijay asked the Prime Minister to direct the Union Home Ministry to stop singing the Tamil Nadu state anthem Vande Mataram at official functions.
Guard of Honor at home in Tamil Nadu
After his meeting with Prime Minister Modi, Vijay reached his Tamil Nadu home in Delhi.The Chief Minister received a ceremonial guard of honor during his visit. It was his first official visit to the national capital since assuming office earlier this month.Social media users reacted strongly to Vijay’s meeting with the Prime Minister and his reception in Delhi. One user commented, “As far as I am concerned, he will be the best CM in the country.” Another social media user wrote: “@actorvijay congrats my capital New Delhi welcome” A third comment described Vijay as “Dashing cm”.
Suresh Gopi asks audience to give time to Vijay
Meanwhile, actor and Union Minister Suresh Gopi again reacted to Vijay’s rise in politics. Speaking to reporters, Suresh Gopi said that people should give Vijay enough time to prove his skills as an administrator before criticizing him.He said, “Let Chief Minister Vijay work. Let him work and prove himself. It would not be right to criticize him ahead of time. People have given him a chance. Let him do a good job.”In the same interaction, Suresh Gopi was also asked about the discussions surrounding Vijay’s political move extending to Kerala.Responding to the question, the Union minister welcomed wider political participation and said he had no objection to Vijay’s party entering Kerala politics.Suresh Gopi stated, “What’s the problem if the winning Tamil Nadu party starts in Kerala? If it comes, let it come. Let it come where it wants (Kerala), let it start. Let it come and benefit the world and the Tamil people.”
