As the tension between the actor and the Federation of West Indian Cine Workers (FWICE) continues to rise, the Cine & Television Artistes Association (CINTAA), the body representing the actors, has now entered the conversation.

Veteran actress and CINTAA president Poonam Dhillon spoke to Variety India and said that she was shocked and worried about how things played out. He stated that Ranveer is a member of CINTAA, yet the association did not consult or inform anyone before issuing the “non-cooperation directive”.

Reports of Rs 45 crore loss by Excel Entertainment after Ranveer’s sudden exit from ‘Don 3’ are doing the rounds, but Dhillon made it clear that CINTAA has been kept completely in the dark. “As an association, CINTAA would at least like to be approached by two or both parties if there was a problem. But neither the artists, nor the production, nor the Federation, let alone because we have no specific information,” he says.

Dhillon was careful not to jump to conclusions without having the whole picture. “Until we have the right information, I can’t comment on a situation because what we’ve already heard is what we’ve read in the media. It’s a very rare situation because it’s one of our members, but neither the artist nor the producer nor the Federation have informed us or trusted us,” he added. When asked about the serious damage this directive could have on Ranveer’s career, Dhillon said the whole situation could have been handled very differently. “We could try to solve the problem. That’s what our association is for, to solve conflicts or any kind of problems that arise between an actor and a producer. Ranveer, being a part of CINTAA, could have involved us and approached us, tried to resolve the issue in a more amicable way,” he explained.

Without stopping to point fingers from one side to the other, Dhillon used the moment to send a broader message to the film fraternity to fulfill their professional commitments. “I would like each agent to fulfill their commitments as best as possible. If there are any problems, manage them and, if necessary, approach the association, and we can solve them together. The fact is that we really don’t know much.
