‘House of the Dragon’ goes to war in its upcoming third season, with cast and crew teasing what could be one of the “craziest” episodes in TV history.Set nearly 200 years before the events of ‘Game of Thrones’, the series chronicles the brutal Targaryen civil war known as the Dance of Dragons. After building up for two seasons, Team Black and Team Green finally go to war and send Westeros into chaos.
‘Battle of the goal ‘ to be the craziest episode
Speaking in Entertainment Weekly’s latest cover story, series creator and showrunner Ryan Condal teased that the famous Battle of Gullet will be “arguably the craziest episode of television ever.”Emma D’Arcy, who leads the series as Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen, teased: “This time the series starts at 60mph. We are finally seeing a war that has been building for two seasons.”“I thought the book went up, and I’m a competitive person, so I wanted to know that,” the actress added of the show, which returns to screens on June 21.Meanwhile, Ewan Mitchell, whose Aemond Targaryen currently occupies the Iron Throne, promised: “It’s all-out war. It’s just a blitz out of the gate.”
About ‘Gullet of the Battle’
The Battle of the Gullet is expected to serve as the focus of the premiere episode. The sequence adapts one of the bloodiest naval conflicts in George RR Martin’s Fire & Blood, and reportedly took four years to develop for the screen.Condale further explained: “Trying to tell this story without doing Gullet would be like trying to film ‘Lord of the Rings’ without doing the battle of Helm’s Deep. If we were going to do it, we had to do it right.”In the battle Admiral Sharako Lohar, played by Abigail Thorn, will lead the Triarchy fleet in an attempt to break House Velaryon’s blockade of Gullet. “Ahab is the captain in this episode. He’s looking for his white whale,” Thorne said.A fierce conflict will unfold on sea and sky as dragons enter the fray, including Harry Collett’s Prince Jacaerys Velaryon and Bethany Antonia’s Lady Baela Targaryen as they take to the battlefield on their dragons. The fight was also teased in the trailer released earlier this month.
‘House of the Dragon’ will end after season 4
Condal also confirmed that the series is still expected to end with season 4. “I can’t speak for everyone else involved with the show and HBO and all of that, but, yeah, that’s my plan,” Condale said.
