Alia Bhatt’s upcoming action film Alpha is creating buzz ahead of its release, and new details suggest that the actress will not be playing a spy, but an assassin.Directed by Shiv Rawail, ‘Alpha’ is long touted to be the next chapter in the YRF Spy Universe. The film was the first female-led film in the franchise with Alia in the lead alongside Sharvari, Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol.

Alia Bhatt will play an assassin in ‘Alpha’

According to the latest report on Bollywood Hungama, the film will now explore the story of a girl who grows up to be an assassin, thereby differentiating Alia’s character from the spy characters played by Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Pathaan’, Hrithik Roshan in ‘WAR’ and Salman Khan in ‘Tiger’.According to the report, the film will introduce a main character “who is an assassin, not a spy that we’ve seen all the protagonists play before. For the first time, Aditya Chopra gives us an origin story, and introduces us to a grayer character, more anti-heroic in tone. It’s refreshing, because otherwise it would be very boring for us to watch.”The report quotes the source as saying, “This will definitely give us some shock value. This is not a conventional approach to building a hero, and it’s brave to think of building a female action character like this.”

The revelation has prompted online comparisons to Scarlett Johansson’s portrayal of Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fans have long drawn parallels between Alia’s reported character arc and the backstory of Natasha Romanoff, who trained young Russian girls as assassins on the show Red Room. While it was first teased in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, the character’s tainted backstory was deepened in ‘Black Widow’.

Jo hisaab yrf ki movies ka raha hai recently won’t be surprised if it’s mostly a scam. Alia natasha and bobby lookalike leading was grooming girls since childhood.”Another publication compared it to the movie Atomic Blonde starring Charlize Theron. “She looks like a mix of Atomic Blonde and Black Widow. I hope she’s more like the former,” the user wrote.
