Actress Shweta Menon has finally reacted to the growing controversy within the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA). The actor, who is currently serving as the president of the organization, addressed the media following the serious allegations made by the actor. The actor also said that some people in the executive committee are targeting and trying to isolate him. “I feel like I’m trapped. That seems to be the agenda,” she added. Shweta added that she believes some members still struggle to accept women in leadership positions in the organization.
The actress responds to the issue of Ansiba Hassan and Tiny Tom
Responding to the spat between Ansiba Hassan and Tiny Tom, Shweta Menon said that the matter was “planned” and alleged that she came to know about the allegation only through media reports. “The complaint officially reached AMMA only around 2pm that day,” he explained. According to Shweta, Ansiba’s resignation letter, as mentioned earlier, was based on personal reasons and did not include allegations against Tiny Tom. “After the complaint appeared, we tried to contact Ansiba, but he did not answer the phone,” he explained. Shweta also clarified that the executive committee will look into the matter properly as per AMMA rules and procedures.
Shweta Menon advocates women’s leadership and calls for unity
Shweta Menon also spoke emotionally about the challenges faced by women leaders in film organisations. “From the very first meeting, I realized that some people had problems with a woman being in power,” she said. The actor explained that the absence of top stars like Mammootty and Mohanlal in leadership positions has changed the atmosphere within the organization. Despite the criticism and pressure, Shweta insisted that she remains strong and committed to solving the problems within AMMA. He added that the upcoming general meeting will be very important, to resolve all concerns and restore the unity of the association.
