ETimes awarded the film four out of five stars and wrote, “Director Arun Anirudhan, best known for writing Minnal Murali, makes an impressive debut full of confidence and swagger. The film, co-written with Paulson Skaria, may not offer a completely fresh story. Campus politics, festivals, gang feuds and friendship dramas are familiar territory. However, what makes Athiradi work is its energy, humour, emotional connection and unapologetic entertainment value.”The reviewer also noted, “At the same time, the film has its limitations. Athiradi is very much about male friendships and male emotions, and actors like Zarin Shihab and Riya Shibu are given very little to do beyond supporting the heroes.”DISCLAIMER: Box office numbers and data in this article have been collected from public and industry sources.
