Actor-politician Kangana Ranaut has appeared firmly in favor of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan after the latter faced online criticism for his recent appearances at the Cannes Film Festival.Taking to Instagram Stories on Sunday, Kangana took aim at trolls Aishwaryas appearance and weight, emphasizing that fashion is a personal expression and that women do not have to respond to public expectations.
“A woman owes nothing to anyone”
Sharing Aishwarya’s Cannes photo, Kangana wrote, “Fashion and style is self expression, it’s an interpretation of one’s life and one’s attitude, a woman owes nothing to anyone, Ash looks great!!”The Queen actress further challenged critics to make someone better instead of trashing them. “Those of you who want to see her differently, why don’t you show her what you’ve got? She’s not here to please you, she’s glorious,” he wrote.

Kangana also pointed out the undertones of age in criticism of Aishwarya’s red carpet appearances. “If you’re not used to seeing old women on red carpets, get used to it now,” he added.Aishwarya’s Cannes controversy has intensified recently after social media users compared her appearances to that of Alia Bhatt, who made headlines during her outings at the festival this year. While some users praised Alia’s fashion choices, others defended Aishwarya, who has been representing India at Cannes for over two decades.

This year marks Aishwarya’s 24th appearance at the prestigious film festival. For her first outing, the Devdas star wore a custom blue dress by designer Amit Aggarwal, complete with diamond jewelry and a dramatic stole.She later appeared in a pastel pink gown with floral embellishments and soft cape sleeves, before rounding off her Cannes appearances with a chic white pantsuit paired with a feather stole.Meanwhile, Kangana is gearing up for the release of her next drama Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata. Directed by Manoj Tapadia, the film revolves around the bravery shown by the hospital staff during the 2008 Mumbai attacks and will release on June 12.
