In the video, when Ranbir Kapoor asked Tiwari about his initial reaction to offering the film, the ‘Dangal’ director didn’t hold back. He said, “Scary, challenging, inspiring all at the same time. Scary, you know because telling a great story like the Ramayana comes with a great moral responsibility. You have to tell it in the right way as possible.”Ranbir added, “With the right intentions,” to which Tiwari agreed, saying, “With the right intentions, of course, you know. Exciting because the kind of world I was introduced to was so awesome. There was never a doubt in my mind that we wouldn’t be able to do that.”

Nitesh Tiwari also revealed that his association with the project dates back almost six years. Reflecting on the trip, he said, “I don’t think I could have made a better decision.” He credited the support of producer Namit Malhotra and production company DNEG as the main reason why the project was a no-brainer, adding that with such support “you would have grabbed it with both hands”.

‘Ramayana’ is directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra under DNEG and Yash’s production house. The film has a large ensemble cast including Ranbir Kapoor Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi Sita, Yash Ravana, Sunny Deol Hanuman and Ravi Dubey Lakshmana. The music for the film features two world legends, Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman.Made on a budget of Rs 4 billion, the film is slated as a two-part global release, with Part 1 arriving in Diwali 2026 and Part 2 in Diwali 2027.
