The Pakistan Hockey Federation is facing fresh criticism from players over unpaid dues and reduction in training camp allowances ahead of the FIH Hockey Men’s World Cup in Holland and Belgium in August.The PHF interim management announced that national team players and officials will be given a daily allowance of US$110 during foreign tours.However, the players have said that their daily allowance has been reduced from USD 11 (Rs 3,000) to USD 3.5 (Rs 1,000) during the training camps.According to sources close to the PHF, the senior players had asked the federation to explain the amount received during the camp.Pakistan on Thursday announced a 20-man squad for next month’s FIH Pro League matches in Belgium and England but did not announce a captain. The decision reportedly did not go down well with the players.Shakeel Imad Butt has been leading Pakistan since early last year.“They have announced that we will get US$110 per day allowance for foreign tours, including the World Cup qualifying event we played in Egypt but we will only believe it until we are paid,” said a player on condition of anonymity.He said that the PHF officials had made similar promises before but did not fulfill them.Another player said, “Right now we just want to know if it is true that they will pay us only 1000 rupees (PKR) per day for the duration of the camp. This amount is an insult to the national players.”The third phase of the FIH Pro League will be played from June 13 to 27, in which Pakistan will face Belgium, Spain, England and arch-rivals India.After that, Pakistan will participate in the FIH World Cup.Pakistan Squad for FIH Pro League:Goalkeepers: Waqar Ali, Ali Raza.The protector: Abu Bakr, Arbaz Ahmed, Muhammad Abdullah, Sufyan Khan.Midfielders: Nadeem Khan, Imad Shakeel, Moeen Shakeel, Hammad Anjum, Zakaria Hayat.Forwards: Ghazanfar Ali, Mohammad Imad, Rana Waleed, Afraz Khan, Rana Wahid, Abdul Rahman, Ahmed Nadeem, Arshad Liaquat, Hanan Shahid.
