Veteran actor Anupam Kher appeared in favor of Alia Bhatt after the actor faced trolling during his recent appearance at the Cannes Film Festival. Kher, who recently won Best Supporting Actor at the UK’s Asian Film Festival Flame Awards for the Indo-Canadian film Calorie, spoke strongly against online negativity and praised Alia for handling criticism.
“People criticize iconic figures just to get noticed”
Reacting to the criticism leveled at Alia at Cannes, Kher did not mince his words. “Losers who have nothing to do in life, want to get noticed by criticizing something iconic. Criticism has become a favorite national pastime or maybe a full-time job for some people. I don’t get mad at them anymore, I feel pity for them,” he told Hindustan Times.The actor added that he was proud to see Alia representing India on a global platform. “I am proud of the way Alia Bhatt represented India at Cannes. There are people who live their lives on views, maybe they are being paid. I loved how Alia responded to them,” he shared.Kher praised the actor for keeping his cool amid the trolling. “These trolls are such becharas that their mere existence is due to celebrities. Alia is a rockstar and knows how to deal with it,” he added.
