New Delhi: Indian cricketer Muhammad Shami The Alipore court has cleared the check bounce case filed by his estranged wife. Hussain Jahan. The case related to a check for Rs 1 lakh which Jahan claimed had bounced after being deposited in the bank.This matter was going on for almost four years. Shami was acquitted of all charges by the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court in Alipore on Wednesday. Confirming the verdict while talking to news agency IANS, Shami’s lawyer Salim Rehman said, “Cricketer Mohammad Shami has been acquitted in a four-year-old case filed by his wife.”After the court verdict, Shami said he was always confident that the verdict would go in his favor. “I have paid every rupee that I have to pay. Whether on or off the field, I always try to handle every situation to the best of my ability,” he told reporters.The check bounce case is just one part of the long-running legal battle between Shami and Hussain Jahan. In 2018, Jahan filed several complaints against Shami and his family members, including allegations related to financial support and maintenance.Currently, as per the order of the Calcutta High Court, Shami Hussain pays Rs 1.5 lakh per month to Jahan and Rs 2.5 lakh per month for daughter’s maintenance.However, Hussain Jahan contacted later. Supreme Court of IndiaArguing that the money was not enough for household expenses. During the hearing, the Supreme Court questioned whether Rs 4 lakh per month is insufficient for the maintenance of mother and daughter.Shami, meanwhile, continues to play for Lucknow Supergiants in the IPL while also dealing with ongoing legal matters.
