New Delhi: Pakistan batsman Salman Agha has been formally reprimanded by the ICC after he lost his temper during the second Test against the Bangladesh national cricket team in Sylhet. The incident occurred when Salman was dismissed in Pakistan’s second innings and hit an advertisement board with his bat on his way back to the pavilion.The ICC found Salman guilty of breaching Article 2.2 of the Code of Conduct, which deals with damaging or misusing cricket equipment and ground fixtures during an international match. Along with the reprimand, a demerit point was added to his disciplinary record. It was his second offense in the last 24 months, bringing his total to two demerit points.Salman accepted the punishment recommended by ICC match referee Jeff Crowe, meaning a formal hearing was not required. The allegation was reported by on-field umpires Richard Kettleborough and Allahuddin Palikar along with third umpire Kumar Dharmasena and fourth umpire Masudur Rahman Mukal.Level 1 ICC offenses can lead to an official warning, fine or demerit points depending on the seriousness of the incident.The disciplinary issue came during a disappointing match for Pakistan, who lost the second Test by 78 runs. Defending a target of 437, Bangladesh completed a historic 2-0 series sweep after spinner Tejul Islam’s impressive six-wicket haul.Despite the defeat, Salman was one of Pakistan’s better performers in the second innings. He scored 71 runs and formed a crucial partnership with Mohammad Rizwan in a match saving effort.The defeat has pushed Pakistan down to eighth in the World Test Championship standings, with the team having won just one of four matches in the current cycle.
