‘You can take glycerine and cry’ : Akshay Kumar explains why comedy deserves more respect; He credits Priyadarshan for his career

Akshay Kumar recently attended the India Today conclave where he spoke about working with filmmakers in comedy films. He stated that he has worked in around 150 films and collaborated with more than 70 filmmakers. The actor added, “But there’s a tune with Priyadarshan – it’s fun working with him. I’ve learned a lot of comedy from him. Rajkumar Santosh he’s also one of the directors I’ve learned a lot from. There was another late director and writer, Neeraj Vora.”Akshay Kumar stated that these are the directors who learned about comedy. He said: “It’s three people; if I even met the ‘C’ of comedy, it’s because of them.”

Akshay Kumar calls comedy the hardest

In the same interaction, Akshay Kumar said comedy “cannot be taught” to anyone and “comes from within”. He said, “If I talk about the film industry, if there is an actor who does comedy, you will never win the best actor award.”He said award functions do not consider comedy actors in the best actor category.
