Arnold Schwarzenegger has finally confirmed his return to one of his most iconic roles: Conan. The actor has revealed that ‘King Conan’, the long-awaited sequel to ‘Conan the Barbarian’, is in the works more than four decades after the original film was released.As Collider reports, the actor revealed that filming is expected to begin in 2027 after years in development. Schwarzenegger also confirmed this Christopher McQuarrieKnown for the ‘Mission: Impossible’ series, he is attached to direct the project.Speaking about the sequel’s delayed development, Schwarzenegger explained: “The movie wouldn’t have worked since I did the first Conan, because the whole idea of King Conan is that he’s been king for 40 years, he’s older now. It is no longer the way it was in its heyday and now people are trying to push it out. He is a king and he calms down a bit. He is tired of work and wants to move on.’The actor compared the tone to the Clint Eastwood-starrer ‘Unforgiven’, adding that he will have “extraordinary battles” as he explores an older, more reflective version of the warrior king.Schwarzenegger added, “We’re doing King Conan next year. So that’s a reality now and I’m excited.”The actor also expressed his desire to honor the legacy of original Conan creator Robert E. Howard and fantasy artist Frank Frazetta in hopes of reuniting. John Miliuswho directed the first Conan film, as a producer.Released in 1982, the fantasy epic ‘Conan the Barbarian’ helped launch Schwarzenegger into Hollywood as an action star. After the success of the film, he went on to headline ‘The Terminator’ franchise.
