Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarships: Eligibility

For undergraduate applicants, students who have already completed Class 12 must have scored at least 80%. Students waiting for their 2027 board results must have at least 80% in 10th standard and a provisional certificate from their school.For STC courses, the minimum marks requirement is 60%, while for KOSEN applicants must have a minimum of 65% in class 10.Research scholarship applicants must meet the requirements for admission to graduate school in Japan and must normally be born on or after April 2, 1992.

Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarships: How to Apply

Students should submit applications by mail, courier or in person to the relevant Japanese embassy or consulate based on their state of residence. Applications sent through email will not be accepted.Applicants are required to complete the official MEXT application form and attach supporting documents including academic transcripts, certificates, letters of recommendation, medical certificates and language proficiency documents, wherever applicable.Research scholarship applicants who clear the first screening will also need to contact Japanese universities directly and receive provisional acceptance before the final selection stage.The first screening includes document verification, written tests in Japanese and English, and interviews.
